Complete Dental Services

We cannot emphasise the importance of regular dental checkups in the prevention of teeth and gum disease. Regular checkups allow dentists to monitor any changes to your dental condition and gum health. Along with a healthy diet, we will advise on strategies to reduce any negative changes to your dental tissues, be it your teeth, gums or jaw joint (TMJ - temporomandubular joint).

Contact All Generations Dental Practice today to book an appointment with one of our dentists in Mosman.

It is recommended that you should have your dental checkup performed every 6 months.

Dental radiographs (x-rays) should be taken every two years to allow dentists to view areas that are not visible to the eye or dental explorer (probe) during a regular dental examination. Some changes that are caught early can be reversed with the application of fluorides or sealants. Dietary advice and oral hygiene instruction can also help in reversing negative changes to teeth and gums.

Our practice in Sydney suggests that you schedule your 6-monthly dental checkup and clean when you finish your existing appointment with us. We will notify you one week prior to the appointment by telephone or SMS (we will soon be able to email you), as to whether the appointment time is still suitable. If not, your appointment can be changed.

Our aim is to conserve tooth structure and maintain gum health and minimise pathological changes to your teeth and gums. Preservation and or the restoration of teeth and gums will lead to better health.

We do not want dental decay to be undiagnosed as this untreated decay may result in teeth requiring more extensive treatment or at worst extraction. If a tooth is lost, the adjacent and opposing teeth will move to try to close the space. This will create other spaces which will lead to food impacting in these areas and it may not take long for decay and or gum disease to result. You may end up losing several teeth. Dental bridgework or implants or a partial denture should be made to replace a missing tooth or teeth.

Healthy teeth and gums allow us to eat better and enjoy good food. Also various studies have shown a relationship between dental gum disease and heart disease. Good functioning teeth and gums can enhance the quality and length of your life.

We look forward to seeing you at your dental examination and clean.

Gum Health

For good gum health you should brush twice a day for at least two minutes after flossing. Brush your upper teeth and then brush your lower teeth, separately. Your gum line should be massaged by your toothbrush on the inside and outside surface of your teeth in a circular manner. You should then brush the biting surface of your teeth.

This type of home maintenance will aid in the prevention of gum disease. If combined with a healthy and balanced diet it will maintain your teeth, whether they are with or without fillings.

Your 6-monthly dental checkup and clean at our practice in Mosman Sydney will help maintain your gum health. During your 6-monthly clean an ultrasonic scaler is used to remove any hard tartar that has formed on your teeth. An ultrasonic scaler uses ultrasonic vibrations and water irrigation to remove tartar and staining on the enamel of your teeth. A fine tipped hand scaler may be used next to get into deep spaces between teeth. Your teeth are next polished using a mild abrasive paste to remove residual staining and smooth.

Gum health is important for the health of your teeth and it has been shown in studies to have an effect on overall health. Gum inflammation and bleeding (gingivitis) is the most common disease effecting human beings. Gingivitis is characterised by redness and swelling of the gum and the tendency of the gum to bleed easily. This is the first sign of gum disease and may lead to a more serious condition called periodontitis which causes the loss of bone surrounding your tooth or teeth. This will make your tooth or teeth become loose and eventually require removal.

From the latest cosmetic dentistry techniques to your child's first dental visit, our practice will aim to provide you with excellent dental care in a caring, friendly and relaxing environment.

We are happy to care for your child's first teeth by providing advice and preventive treatment. We can also enhance your smile and protect your teeth with the use of porcelain veneers and crowns.
